Carnegie Hall
We had the opportunity to go to CARNEGIE HALL and grabbed it. It was announced in church that the BYU Chamber Orchestra was performing there and the tickets were free to the members of the church. Not a great fan of just Orchestra performances but, It was an opportunity we just couldn't pass up. We secured 4 tickets so we could take some ward members with us. We had great box seat tickets. One of the members canceled out at the last minute, but we did go with Sister Naomi Openheimer. An older sister who is the ward family history consultant. She is a hoot and we had great fun with her. We met her at the subway and rode down town. We went to dinner at an Italian place right across the street from the Hall. The performance was a good two hours long. There was this trumpet player who made a special guest appearance. He looked really familiar to us. After the performance on the way home standing down stairs in the subway station, we saw this kid we new talking to a couple. Then the light clicked. The trumpet player was the same kid standing down in the subway whose name is Nathan Botts, he and his wife serve in the temple with us. He is a classical soloist on the trumpet, orchestral musician, composer, improviser, and specialist on the historic natural trumpet. Has been all over the world, graduated from BYU and the Juilliard School. What a small world that we would now the guest performer with the BYU Chamber Orchestra.
